Wind Power Industry

Wind Power is a significant and fast-growing renewable energy source in India. India has about 51GW of installed capacity, and targets to reach about 100GW by 2030. Lesoko helps wind power plant owners with their innovative drone-based solutions for the entire project life cycle. Adding around 8-15GW of installed capacity each year, the industry is rapidly growing attracting investors from private players as well.  The potential for wind power generation at 150m in India stands at 1164GW, which means that only 4.5% of the potential has been tapped so far. Thus, the potential for Wind Power Generation is still very huge. Wind power generation is inherently seasonal, it is critical that generation is continuous during the season. This calls for maintenance during the off-season period and ensuring all the equipment is in top notch condition. Read on to find out more about how Lesoko powers wind power projects.

Infrastructure

As India marches toward becoming the third largest economy in the world, its cities have seen tremendous growth. Urban migration has increased multiple folds and our cities are struggling to keep up with the infrastructure needs of the people. As a result, Cities must expand and new areas must be developed inevitably. Infrastructure has to be developed as greenfield projects in new areas whereas in existing areas of Cities, infrastructure has to be retrofitted as they have reached the end of their useful lives. The Smart Cities mission by the Union Government has given a tremendous impetus to creation of public infrastructure for transport, waste management, energy management and digital governance keeping in mind the future needs for innovation, efficiency and sustainability.

Building innovative and futuristic infrastructure requires fast and accurate solutions for planning, surveying and project management. Lesoko provides just that exactly! Read on to find out more.

Railways & Metro

India boasts of having the 4th largest railway network in the world. Passenger volume has crossed 7 billion alone in FY25 already with revenue of about Rs.75,000 crore. Nearly the entire broad-gauge network in India is electrified resulting in reduction in accident rates. The introduction of Vande Bharat has added premium chair car services as well. Urban connectivity has seen a massive increase with the introduction of metros. Metros are operational in over 1000km in 23 cities across India with another 1300km proposed and in the pipeline. Railways and Metros put together, form the backbone of passenger and freight transport in the country and it is paramount to keep the systems functional, safe and efficient. Having worked with the likes of Southern Railways, Lesoko possess deep expertise in inspection of maintenance of railway systems. Find out more about Lesoko’s capabilities below.

Mining

The Mining sector contributes 2% directly to India’s GDP output and employs about 1.1 million people. India ranks #2 in the world for Coal, Steel and Aluminium output and #4 in the world for Iron ore production. The National Critical Mining Mission (NCMM) has given even more impetus to mine critical minerals that will reduce India’s dependence on imports. The scale at which mining infrastructure projects operate is humongous since it covers a wide geographical area. The terrain in which such projects are located also pose a significant challenge to even start mining operations. Months of work is needed to just establish connectivity to the actual mining location. Often project developers have to navigate a slew of regulatory and environmental concerns as such projects are sensitive in nature inherently.

The applications of drone-based solutions are multi-fold in this industry as a lot of problems can be solved with this technology. Wherever human intervention is time consuming and is too risky, we can engage drones to act on our behalf. Lesoko has deep and significant expertise in solving such problems. Read on to find out.

Transmission Line Industry

The Electricity transmission industry is the backbone of the power industry carrying power from the generation sources to the distributors who make it available to the end customers. The transmission system involves carrying high voltage electricity ranging from 33kV to 765kV over long distances by means of conductors which are suspended and supported at intermediate points by means of high mast towers. Typically, about 3%-6% of power transmitted is lost as it is transported over long distances. The transmission line industry faces massive challenges during its project life cycle from concept to commissioning and during operation and maintenance. Lesoko provides focussed and specialised solutions for the transmission industry during every phase of the project life cycle!

Transmission Line Tower Inspection

Transmission towers are critical structures that need to be inspected regularly so that its stability, integrity are maintained.

Drone inspection can effectively replace manual inspection as drones can easily reach the top of the towers without any installing any scaffolding. It is faster, safer and much more reliable than human inspection and can also be monitored real time for instant response formulations.

A huge advantage is that even live towers can be inspected which practically means zero operational downtime which is unimaginable in case of manual inspections. Our thermal and RGB imaging cameras can even inspect small components such as conductors and insulators which are used in a transmission tower.

Hotspots and faulty components, loose connections can be performed after visual examination by means of live photos. Vegetation clearances needed at places that are currently not easily accessible now can be taken up at specific towers.

A transmission tower inspection done by our drones can give you the following:

Components Inspection
Span inspection
720KV Line Inspection

Route Alignment Survey

Faced delays while constructing and erecting transmission towers before? Don’t make the mistake once again.

Consider Lesoko’s route alignment survey. Land acquisition is always fraught with challenges and when it comes to high voltage transmission towers. Private owners are often hesitant to give up their land or even lease it out.

Transmission towers pass through remote areas and much of it may be Poramboke or Government owned land as well. Some of these areas may also be illegally encroached by private individuals and entities.

So, it is very important to ensure that your planned alignment is not only short, technically feasible but also clear of any legal hurdles arising from property ownership as well.

Any levelling or clearance needed at the planned location of these towers needs to be carried out first. Our GPS and GIS enabled surveys can not only map the geographic terrain but also provide precise latitude and longitudes of the location so that we can optimize the costs for access paths / roads needed during construction and the length of the conductor wires required.

Our alignment survey gives you the following information:

Topographical Survey
Route identification
Unauthorized Construction & Encroachment Analysis
Span inspection
Close Image View

LiDAR Survey

Want total safety and protect your transmission project assets? Lesoko’s LiDAR based survey solutions help you measure accurately all the clearances between the towers and in between the phase-phase and phase-ground conductor wires.

Weather conditions make these conductors wires expand/contract and sometimes sag as well. This is a critical safety requirement because if the threshold clearances are not met, it can cause unsafe operations and result in sparks/fires due to electric arcs. Span measurements between towers, clearances from nearby structures and buildings can also be exactly measured.

LiDAR in combination of GIS can provide accurate 3D maps that will capture the location, the geographic terrain of all the transmission assets. Our photographic survey can also map and identify components such as jumpers, dampers and insulators, etc and perform a quantity survey.

This data can be directly integrated into your inventory/fixed assets register which can be used for planning, bookkeeping and procurement purposes.

Some of the measurements that can be made with a LiDAR Survey include:

Phase to phase measurements
Phase to ground measurements
DEM ind
